"Walk for Thalassaemia", organized by the Children's Thalassaemia Foundation and co-organized by the Emperor Foundation, was held in the open area of Peak Galleria. More than 300 participants invited fellows around to donate generously and support their almsdeed of joining the walk. All the fund raised will be used to support medical researches for curing Thalassaemia, acquire medical equipment for improving patients' nursing, support counseling services for Thalassaemia patients and their families, and patients career training subsidizing scheme, etc.
Many people attended the function, in which honorable guests include Professor Yeung Chap Yung and Dr. Kathleen So, JP, the Chairperson and Vice-chairperson of Children's Thalassaemia Foundation respectively, Mr. Yang Trevor and Mrs. Judy Mui from the Fundraising Committee, Ms. Semon Luk, the Chairperson of Emperor International Holdings Ltd., Ms. Christina Ng, the Corporate Communications Director of Emperor Group, and 3 singers from Emperor Entertainment Group Limited, namely Kenny Kwan, Mandy Chiang and Deep Ng.
Kenny Kwan, the Caring Ambassador, will take up the role of promoting and educating the public about Thalassaemia. In the kick-off ceremony, he sang the theme song "Let it be" accompanied by a dozen of children.
"I sincerely hope to arouse the public awareness of Thalassaemia through a series of promotions. Some patients' families are not well-off, however, their family members have to spend extra time to take care of them, which makes them under pressure. I do hope that we can work cooperatively to support this fund-raising activity", said Kenny.
