Emperor Foundation has organized its outbound volunteer activity for the seventh consecutive years. Nearly 40 staff members participated in a 4-day tour on 20-23 September to visit the solitary elderly in Hubei. The first stop, Wang Ying Elderly Home in Yangxin County, Huangshi, is a charity home for hundreds of elderly people. Before arrival, workers were hired for well digging for water supply to solve the problem of water shortage in times of electricity suspension. During the visit, the volunteers donated some bedding products as well as massage equipment to express their care to the elderly. A small fun fair with game counters was also held to share the joy with the elderly there. The next day the volunteers returned to Wuhan to visit “Hubei Hong Kong Emperor Elderly Care Centre”, which was sponsored by Emperor Group in 2006 to provide hospice care service to solitary elderly with no family ties. It aims to allow them to live out the last journey of their lives with dignity and no regret. The elderly were toured around in the East Lake scenic area to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. After a night’s rest, the volunteers hosted a party in the Centre. By showing love and care to elderly with gifts, usual food and simple games, the elderly were encouraged to face their last stage of life with dignity.
