The Samaritan Befrienders Hong Kong (SBHK) is a local voluntary agency run by volunteer workers. Its mission is to lend a helping hand to the distressed and helpless. Through giving support and rendering emotional counseling to them, SBHK helps them to help themselves.
In 2001, SBHK initiated to establish a Life Education Center and a Suicidal Crisis Intervention Center so as to serve the community better in the area of suicide prevention. Through the active support of the Director of Social Welfare, both centres are opened and in operation since 2002. In July 2002, Emperor Foundation shows its generous support to SBHK by donating HK$300,000 for its current development.
