On 7 May, Ms. Semon Luk, Chairperson of Emperor International Holdings Ltd.,, Mr. Donald Cheung, Executive Director of Emperor International Holdings Ltd., together with Sammy Sum, Elly Lam and Aiden Hung, artists from Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG), a attended the kick-off ceremony of “Hiking for Hospice 2023” at Tai Lam Country Park in Yuen Long. Emperor Foundation, as the platinum sponsor of this event, fully supports the implementation of hospice service to help patients with terminal illness to walk peacefully through their final journey. The staff of Emperor Group also formed a corporate team to raise funds through hiking, and some of them also challenged the 23-kilometer long-distance trail for charity.
Sammy Sum, who has always had a fitness habit, is also a hiking enthusiast. He said, “Hiking is a relatively mild aerobic exercise, and the air quality in the countryside is good, which is very helpful for fitness training. I usually do exercises at home, so it's a great opportunity for me to be more involved with the nature, and at the same time to do something for people in need. The company supports this event every year, hoping that more people will pay attention to patients with terminal illnesses and their families who also need support.”
Elly Lam mentioned that she participated in many sports during school time. She said, “I personally prefer to choose hiking trails of beginner to intermediate difficulty as breathing exercises, not only for my health, but also to sing for longer. I am grateful for the service of Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care, which provides a hospice environment for patients and their families, relieves their burden and arranges psychological counseling for them, and I am proud that my company supports this kind of social welfare program.”
Aiden Hung, who joined Emperor Foundation’s sponsored event for the first time, said, “It has been a long time since I went to such an exciting physical charity event! ‘Hiking for Hospice’ is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and our company has been supporting the non-profit organization for more than 20 years. I am pleased to witness this new milestone with all participants. Previously, Vincy Chan and I hiked across the mountain to conduct outdoor shootings. Along the route to the same goal, our team enjoyed the beautiful scenery and chatted all the time. With healthier bodies, we grew closer. Today, I sincerely hope that everyone who is taking participate can enjoy the fun of ‘doing good’ event!”
The non-profit charitable organization “Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care” started to organize the “Hiking for Hospice” in 1992 and Emperor Foundation has been sponsoring the event for more than 20 years despite the pandemic period. Emperor Group aims to use its corporate capabilities to promote its charity concept of “We should do as much as we can to give back to the community”. This event was supported by multiple parties.
