Emperor Group supported Po Leung Kuk’s “District Elderly Campaign 2012” and mobilized a volunteer team of 30 staff, relatives and friends to visit some elderlies living alone in Lei Yue Mun Estate, Yau Tong on December 8. With funding from the Group, they also brought some traditional food as gifts to mark the Chinese festival Winter Solstice.
Some of the elderlies are close to 100 years old. Due to various reasons, they are on their own without the company of family during their final years of life. They are lucky enough to be able to live in public housing. Though having the need for shelter satisfied, they can’t help feeling lonely, especially during festive times. The volunteers’ visit in a time when the weather was getting cool and a few western and Chinese festivals were around the corner was a timely move to cheer them up.
