The 2nd China Charity Conference organized by the PRC's Ministry of Civil Affairs was held at the Great Hall of People in Beijing on December 5. The PRC's President Mr. Hu Jintao was there to deliver an important speech. He also congratulated the prizewinners and encouraged them to further their charity works. Emperor Group Chairman Dr. Albert Yeung Sau Shing won the China Charity Award – The Most Caring Individual Donor Award, as recognition of his outstanding contributions to charity works in China. This is the second time Dr. Yeung has won an award in the Conference since it was firstly staged in 2005.
Dr. Yeung has donated nearly 20 million dollars after the earthquake hit Sichuan in May. He also organized a friendship tour that was made up of the Group's artistes and staff to the quake-affected area. And to recognize Beijing Olympic gold medalists' contributions to sports development in China, Dr. Yeung awarded 12.6 million dollars to the 63 athletes.
Dr. Yeung said he was honoured to receive the award and what he had done was just to fulfill his social responsibility. He was happy and proud to be able to contribute to the community and country. And he hoped he could contribute even more in the future.
