Established in 1997, Emperor Foundation is committed to providing funding and volunteering service in the areas of education, elderly care, health care, culture and environmental protection, with a particular focus on education. For the past 20 years, besides “Emperor Foundation Scholarship” for each of the twelve registered tertiary institutions in Hong Kong and primary school in Mainland China, the Foundation has made donations to other education funds in Mainland, including the “Ministry of Justice, PRC Education Fund”, “China University of Political Science and Law –C.U.P.L. Dr. Albert Yeung Education Fund”, “Peking University Education Foundation” and “Xiamen Education Fund” for students with either excellent academic results or underprivileged family background.
In 2020, the "Emperor Foundation Scholarship" was extended to Lai Yi Primary School in Xiangqiao District, Chiu Chow City in Guangdong Province to recognize students and teachers with outstanding performance through two types of awards. The student awards are divided into four categories, namely, the "Merit Student Award", the "Outstanding Achievement Award", the "Outstanding Student Participated Work Award", and the "Outstanding Style Award", while the teacher awards are divided into four categories as well, including the "Teaching Quality Award", the "Education Motivation Award", the "Further Education Achievement Award", and the "Special Contribution Award". More than 360 teachers and students of Lai Yi Primary School participated in the scholarship award ceremony.
At the ceremony, representatives of the award-winning students expressed their gratitude to the teachers of the school for their hard work and to the Emperor Foundation for providing the scholarship.
Named after Dr Albert Yeung’s grandfather, Lai Yi Primary School was founded in 1985 with a donation from Dr. Albert Yeung's father, Mr. Yeung Shing. Since its establishment, the school has twice set up "Scholarship Fund" to reward students with exceptional academic performance and teachers with excellent teaching skills. Dr. Albert Yeung has also donated computers and other learning equipment to the school for many times, and has also visited Lai Yi Primary School with his family to encourage the children.
Dr. Albert Yeung has been actively involved in charity work for decades. In addition to donating funds for disaster relief, he has also focused on promoting the development of hospice services for the elderly. So far, Dr. Yeung has initiated ten elderly centres and one child care centre in Mainland China and Hong Kong. In addition, he has also adopted the philanthropic philosophy of "from the community, to the community" into corporate culture, encouraging the staff of Emperor Group to participate in volunteer works in various fields such as education, elderly care, medical care, culture and environmental protection to fulfill corporate social responsibility.
