The results of the "Second China's Charitable Persons Award" and "China's Outstanding Charity Contribution Award" were announced in the award presentation ceremony hosted by the China Charity Federation, which was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing in the morning on 9 January 2007. After being elected as "Top 10 Charity Stars in the PRC" and granted the "China Charity Award" last year, Dr. Albert Yeung Sau Shing, Chairman of the Emperor Group received "China's Outstanding Charity Contribution Award" and won a designation of "China's Charitable Person", in recognition of his outstanding contribution to charity work in China.
About 200 people from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and the Mainland received the award this year, with only two Hong Kong awardees, namely Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of the Emperor Group, and Tin Ka Ping, an entrepreneur. The appraisal and election were conducted across the country under the authorization of the State Council and were completed after a review of more than three months by experts.
Party and State leaders, such as Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Mr. Abdul'ahat Abdulrixit, the former Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wan Guo Quan and President of the China Charity Federation Fan Bao Jun and the National Committee member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the ceremony and presented the awards to the winners.
