On June 28, the South Kowloon Lions Club and St. James' Settlement held the kick-off ceremony of the "Funeral Assistance Fund". Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of Emperor Group, attended the ceremony as the founding president of the South Kowloon Lions Club and delivered a speech.
Dr. Yeung mentioned that he has always been most concerned about hospice services for the elderly. He believes that among all charitable service areas, hospice care is most beneficial because hospice service never asks for anything in return. Over the past two decades, Dr. Yeung has funded the construction of ten elderly care centers in the Mainland China and Hong Kong, providing over 3,000 beds for the grassroots elderly.
Mr. Joseph Yau, the President of South Kowloon Lions Club and the founder of the foundation expressed the greatest support to the "Funeral Navigation Fund" operated by St. James' Settlement on behalf of the Lions Club, to support the elders in need through continuous fundraising. He also mentioned that Dr. Yeung has laid a good foundation since the establishment of South Kowloon Lions Club, and special acknowledgement to his generous sponsorship.
