Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of Emperor Group, and Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman of Emperor Group, attended the 20^th China Charity Ranking (2023) held at China National Convention Center in Beijing on 18 May. Dr. Albert Yeung and Mr. Alex Yeung were awarded “Charity 20th in China‧Philanthropic Leader” and “Young Philanthropist of the Year” respectively. China Charity Ranking was founded in 2004 by China Philanthropy Times, which is under the supervision of Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and organized by China Association of Social Workers. This year is the 20^th anniversary of China Charity Ranking, and to recognize the philanthropists who have been leading by example and contributing to the country. This year, the organizer specially set up the highest honorary recognition of “Charity 20th in China‧Philanthropic Leader”, which is another milestone of philanthropy after Dr. Albert Yeung received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

Over 100 entrepreneurs, well-known individuals from culture, sports and the community gathered to witness this year's China Charity Ranking. Before the award ceremony, Mr. Chen Cungen, President of China Association of Social Workers, Dr. Albert Yeung and other guests were invited to officiate the launching ceremony to honor the 20-year-long role model of China Charity Ranking. Followed by the ceremony, Dr. Albert Yeung was  awarded the honor of “Charity 20th in China‧Philanthropic Leader” in recognition of his active contribution in the areas of elderly care, hospice service, education development and village revitalization since 1970, and his participation in promoting the flourishing development of charity in China. In his speech, Dr. Albert Yeung thanked the China Charity Ranking for the recognition and said, “In 2007, when I first received the award from the China Charity Ranking, I was very excited and I promised myself that I would continue to work hard to do a better job in charity. After that, I started to fund more than 10 elderly centres in Hubei, Hebei, Jiangsu, Guangxi and Hong Kong, providing more than 3,000 beds, and set up two charitable funds. Every year, the staff and artists of Emperor Group form volunteer teams to pay visits and actively promote the development of welfare for the elderly and youth in Mainland China. In the future, Emperor Group and I will work harder to promote the sustainable development of public welfare and create more shared values together.”

Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman of the Group, was awarded the “Young Philanthropist of the Year”. As a member of the 14^th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Beijing CPPCC, a member of the All-China Youth Federation, Vice Chairman of Beijing Youth Federation, and Chairman of Hong Kong United Youth Association, Mr. Alex Yeung has devoted himself to youth development and actively promoted and participated in social welfare issues. He shared on stage, “I am very grateful for the encouragement I received from the conference! Young people are the future of society, so apart from promoting upward mobility of young people through charity work and helping them to overcome difficulties in education, employment, entrepreneurship and home ownership, I will also work hard to help young people to bring more positive energy into the society in the future, so as to realize the legacy of charity power.” This is the first time that Mr. Alex Yeung has received an individual philanthropy award from China Charity Ranking, following the “Philanthropic Inheritance Excellence Awards” he received together with his father last year.

In the past years, artistes of Emperor Entertainment Group have been actively fulfilling their social responsibility by carrying out Dr. Yeung's philosophy of “good deeds are for the people, giving back as much as you can”. This year, Gillian Chung, artiste of Emperor Entertainment Group, was also awarded the “Model Charity Star of the Year” at the ceremony. In her 22 years since debut, Gillian has participated in numerous fundraising campaigns, actively promoted various types of charity activities in Mainland China and Hong Kong. She paid many visited to earthquake victims, providing her support, and is committed to spreading her love for the community.
