The 10th Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Awards organized by The Mirror, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 14. Entrepreneurs, experts and scholars from four different regions across the Strait participated in the event both online and offline. Emperor Group was continuously awarded the "Outstanding CSR Award", which once again recognized the Group's efforts in philanthropy and building a sustainable society.
Mr. CY Leung, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr. Xu Kai, Deputy Manager of Science and Technology Department of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG), and Ms. Tsui San Ying, Executive President of the Mirror, were invited to the ceremony as the officiating guests. With the increasing attention to ESG worldwide, Hong Kong Stock Exchange has also imposed strict requirements on listed companies. This year, the Mirror has also included ESG indicators in its evaluation criteria to measure the sustainability performance of enterprises and organizations in terms of environmental, social and corporate governance assessments.
Under the leadership of Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of Emperor Group, the Group has always been fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by adhering to its philosophy of “giving back as much as you can”. The Group established Emperor Foundation in 1997 and Albert Yeung Sau Shing Charity Foundation in 2008 to organize various charity events in the Mainland and Hong Kong, as well as to fund the construction of 10 elderly centres and a child care centre to provide care and hospice services for the elderly, with the hope of providing care for the elderly and medical treatment for the patients. Besides, the Foundation also pays great attention to the education field. In the last 20 years, Emperor Foundation has provided scholarships to 12 registered universities in Hong Kong and elementary school in Mainland, and has also donated to various education funds in Mainland to nurture talents.
Kindness and good deeds come from everywhere. Based on the concept, the Group promotes the “Empower Community” social practice programme to encourage the Emperor Group and its staff and artistes in Hong Kong, Macau and the Mainland, as well as family and friends and youth groups to actively participate in the charity activities, such as forming volunteer teams to visit the elderly on a regular basis, so as to share the benefits of development with the underprivileged in the society.
In the future, Emperor Group will continue to contribute to sustainable development of the society in different ways and create more shared values with its employees and social stakeholders.
