Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of Emperor Group, Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman of Emperor Group, and Ms. Mani Fok Received Honours at the 2024 Charity Ceremony

Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of Emperor Group, and Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman of Emperor Group, attended the 2024 Charity Ceremony held in Beijing on 26 June. They were awarded the “2024 Philanthropic Leader with Outstanding Contribution” and “2024 Philanthropist of the Year” awards, respectively. Dr. Albert Yeung has been dedicated to charitable work for over fifty years and has been recognised by the organisation seventeen times, inspiring the entire Group with his philanthropic spirit. Mr. Alex Yeung has actively promoted the Group’s charitable initiatives in Mainland China and Hong Kong, earning recognition for his dedication to public welfare. Ms. Mani Fok, Chief Executive Officer of Emperor Entertainment (Beijing) Limited, was also awarded the “Most Influential Leading Philanthropist” for guiding artistes to use their influence for social good.

 

At the ceremony, Dr. Albert Yeung was the first awardee to take the stage, receiving the “2024 Philanthropic Leader with Outstanding Contribution” award, presented by Mr. Ma Peihua, Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Mr. Chen Cungen, President of China Association of Social Workers. In Dr. Yeung’s acceptance speech, he said, “I have always considered it my duty to care for society, using my abilities and resources to promote harmony and progress.” Reflecting on his philanthropic journey, he remarked, “I became the Charter President of the Lions Clubs of South Kowloon in the 1970s and subsequently established Emperor Foundation and Albert Yeung Sau Shing Charity Foundation, supporting various public welfare projects, including elder care and youth education. To date, we are operating eleven senior centres and children’s welfare homes in Mainland China and Hong Kong.” Dr. Yeung reaffirmed his dedication to guiding Emperor Group in the expansion of its charitable projects to benefit a broader community.

 

Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman of Emperor Group, has been deeply committed to youth development and actively participates in social welfare activities. He was awarded the “2024 Philanthropist of the Year”. Mr. Yeung shared, “The spirit of philanthropy is a belief I have always upheld. I aim to help young people achieve upward mobility while guiding them to give back to society, fostering a new generation of core contributions to the public welfare and charity sector of the nation.” He continued to share with the audience his experience that earlier this year, under the commission of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Hong Kong United Youth Association utilised the Disaster Relief Fund to purchase supplies and deliver holiday greetings to affected residents in Mentougou District, Beijing. Next month, the Association will visit disaster-affected residents in Qinghai and Gansu, demonstrating the deep bond between the people of Hong Kong and our compatriots in Mainland China.

 

Ms. Mani Fok, Chief Executive Officer of Emperor Entertainment (Beijing) Limited, was honoured with the “Most Influential Leading Philanthropist” award. With thirty years in the artiste management industry, she has consistently upheld her commitment to positive influences, frequently participating in various charitable activities with the artistes under Emperor Entertainment Group. The award also recognised her efforts in promoting cultural industry education and nurturing young talent. Ms. Fok stated, “I often advise the artistes to leverage their influence to bring more positivity to the public. In future, I am committed to tirelessly contributing to charitable causes and dedicating my modest efforts.”

 

The 2024 Charity Ceremony is organised by the China Philanthropy Times. According to data released by the China Philanthropy Times, 226 philanthropists (or groups) made large donations in 2023, amounting to over 11.3 billion yuan. This figure significantly surpasses the nearly 8 billion yuan donated the previous year, marking the second-highest amount in the past 21 years.
