HONG KONG, 03 SEPTEMBER 2020 – Known for his exquisite taste, love for vintage and passion for interior designs, artiste Hins Cheung work hand in hand with talented local interior designer, Karson Liu to recreate the Art-Deco glamour. This masterpiece not only won praises from its visitors but recognition and acknowledgements from professional judges and juries in some of the world’s largest and most acclaimed design competitions. Successfully defeated thousands of applications from over a hundred different countries and regions, The Crown was awarded:
2019 – 2020 A’DESIGN AWARD & COMPETITION – Interior Space & Exhibition Design Award – Silver Award
2019 MUSE DESIGN AWARDS – Interior Design, Restaurants – Platinum Award
2019 INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS – Restaurants & Bars Interior Design – Silver Award
Perched on the 25th floor of The Emperor Hotel, The Crown is an Art-Deco inspired restaurant & bar with geometric, marble and metallic design elements, evocative of the glamorous 1920s. The Crown’s extravagance begins outside, with its own private entrance and elevator access, resembling a golden tunnel bringing one back to the golden era. Dominated by a darker palette, the lounge feels more formal and classic, perfect for chic gatherings and romantic celebrations. Contributing further to the design of the lounge is a wooden stage with classic red velvet curtains contrasted with a modernized LED backdrop, as well as The Crown’s signature bar. The bar features a sun-like motif light fixture, gleaming from the ceiling with a subtle black and white marble bar that was pieced together by hand.
In addition to the overall aesthetics, many thoughts were also put into the designing the layout as well to maximize functionality and experience. Maximizing the space while keeping a careful balance to the city and harbour views, all five private multi-purpose rooms were laid out to one side, connected by a wavy golden corridor. The corridor required precise measurements for the custom-made gold mirrors, glasses, marbles and malachite stones, and experienced craftsmen were needed to meticulously piece them, one at a time. All multi-purpose rooms are fitted with professional, concert-quality sound system and complete entertainment facilities, making this the perfect venue for music lovers and those who enjoy singing. The rooftop terrace is filled with homely patio furniture and luscious greenery – a more tone down aesthetic to embrace the stunning 270-degree panoramic city and harbour view. Meanwhile, the rooftop bar was designed with a spilt function, where it was be transformed into two bar stations to maximize flexibility and accommodate different event needs.Piecing every finest detail together is what crowned The Crown in these international interior design awards and competitions.
