[4 October 2016- Hong Kong] Dr. Albert Yeung Sau Shing, Chairman of Emperor Group, donated RMB 8.6 million to Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College via Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China for the construction of the college’s new campus.
Since its establishment in 1950, the college has been providing Chinese language education for returned overseas Chinese. The college was founded in 1950 to facilitate returning overseas Chinese wanting to learn Chinese. Under the auspices of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, it is the only professional college in the country offering such courses for returning Chinese. The Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China is a nationwide public raising foundation. It was registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 2004.
Dr. Yeung has been contributing much to education, including Emperor Foundation Scholarship in each of nine tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. He has also made donations to other education funds in the Mainland, including the "Ministry of Justice, PRC Education Fund", "China University of Political Science and Law – C.U.P.L. Dr. Albert Yeung Education Fund", "Peking University Education Foundation" and "Xiamen Education Fund" for students with either excellent academic results or underprivileged family background. With his funding of RMB 30 million, The Emperor School of Performing Arts of Shanghai Institute of Visual Art, Fudan University was set up for aspiring performing artistes.
In 1994, Dr. Yeung was appointed an Honorary Professor of Law by the China University of Political Science and Law, and Honorary Consultant of All China Lawyers Association by the All China Lawyers Association. In 1998, he was named Honorary Trustee by Peking University. He was further appointed Director and Honorary President of The Emperor School of Performing Arts by Shanghai Institute of Visual Art, Fudan University in 2007; Honorary Professor by Guangdong University of Finance in 2008. These awards not only reflect the widespread recognition of his achievements, but also encourage and strengthen his belief in serving the community.
