Dr. Albert Yeung Sau Shing, Chairman of Emperor Group, has been elected to be one of the Eighth "Top 10 Philanthropists" and entered the "China's Charity Chart" in 2011. This is the third consecutive year Dr. Yeung has received these honours since 2009.
Dr. Yeung has a long-going interest in lending a helping hand to the needy in the Mainland, especially victims of natural disasters, the elderly and terminally ill. In particular, he has sponsored the setup of several elderly care centres in recent years. One of these centres, "Albert Yeung Sau Shing Charity Foundation (Shunping) Elderly Care Centre" in Baoding City of Hebei Province, was visited and highly praised by President Hu Jintao during Lunar New Year earlier this year.
The "China's Charity Chart" was organised by Ministry of Civil Affairs of China, Central Committee for Comprehensive Management of Public Security, All-China Federation of Trade Unions, All-China Women's Federation, China Association of Social Workers, Red Cross Society of China and China Philanthropy Times. The ceremony took place yesterday (April 26) in Beijing and was covered by mainstream media including CCTV and Beijing Television.
