(July 27, 2010, Hong Kong) The accomplishments of the 3-year-old \"Emperor Hospice Service Programme\", pioneered in Hubei Province jointly by Emperor Group and Social Workers Across Borders, were reviewed at a press meeting, during which a cheque presentation ceremony was held to officiate the programme’s extension to a second phrase.

The programme is first of its kind in China and has helped many elderlies ever since it came into service in 2007. Today’s press meeting at the Emperor (Happy Valley) Hotel was attended by Dr. Albert YeungEmperor Group Chairman; Mr. Zhang Tiefu, Head of the Social Work Unit at the Liaison Office of the Central People\'s Government; Mr. Huang Qingfong, Deputy Head of the Social Work Unit at the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government; and Mr. Terrence Chan, President of Social Workers Across Borders.

After presenting a HKD 3,550,000 cheque to Mr. Chan, Dr. Yeung further officiated at a new logo unveiling ceremony with Mr. Zhang, marking the programme’s leap into a new stage.

With the building cost and annual medical subsidy of “Hubei Hong Kong Emperor Elderly Care Centre” taken into account, Emperor Group has spent close to HKD 12,000,000 to run the programme up till March 2010. It now adds up to HKD16,000,000 with this latest round of donation. Approximately 5,000 elderlies have used the services, accompanied by nearly 10,000 other users from the community.

“Hubei Hong Kong Emperor Elderly Care Centre” was established by Emperor Group in 2007 with support from the Liaison Office and Hubei Charity Federation to provide one-stop hospice care service to elderlies with no family ties. It aims to allow them to live out the last journey of their lives with dignity and no regret. The programme is the first to let in cooperation between Hong Kong social workers and local medical professionals, successfully breaking Chinese people’s taboo about death over the past 3 years. Its contributions have been well recognized. It won “The Most Influential Charity Project Nomination Award 2007” from the Ministry of Civil Affairs and “Hubei Charity Award 2008”.

Dr. Yeung, also Life Honorary President of Social Workers Across Borders, spoke during the event, “I am grateful to the support from the Liaison Office of the Central People\'s Government and unselfish commitment of Social Workers Across Borders. We will work together for another 3 years, serving the elderly staying at ‘Hubei Hong Kong Emperor Elderly Care Centre’ and others at various elderly care centers elsewhere.”
