Albert Yeung Sau Shing Foundation Hospice Service Programme
Dr. Albert Yeung first worked with Hubei Charity Federation in 2006, funding the establishment of "Albert Yeung Sau Shing (Wuhan, China) Elderly Service Centre” adjacent to Rongjun Hospital in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, specializing in palliative care to the solitary senior. In 2007, he complemented the service with "Albert Yeung Sau Shing Foundation Hospice Service Programme" in collaboration with Social Workers Across Borders, providing counseling service to the terminally ill at the center. This is the first ever joint project between Hong Kong social workers and mainland medical practitioners. The project won “The Most Influential Charity Project Nomination Award” from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China in 2007 and “Hubei Province Charity Award” from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Hubei Province in 2008 because of its innovative efforts in attempting to break the death taboo in the Chinese tradition.
